About this course

This course helps high school students build real world product innovation skills (and a portfolio to demonstrate it) by learning how to spot meaningful problems, understand users, make tradeoffs, and iterate toward stronger solutions.

Instead of just learning the language of product and design, students will build something tangible they can actually stand behind.

Each student will develop a product concept, digital or physical, rooted in a real problem they care about.

Along the way, they will sharpen judgment, build comfort with ambiguity, and learn to explain not just what they made, but why it deserves to exist.

This course optimizes for how students think, not how polished their final output looks.

What you'll do

Part 1 (Modules 0-2): Problem & Point of View Define a real problem through a specific user lens, and make clear choices about what you are and are not solving. Output: clear problem framing and an initial product hypothesis

Part 2 (Modules 3-4): Solution & Testing Turn your insight into a product concept, build a low- to mid-fidelity prototype, and test one key assumption. Output: initial prototype and documented learning

Part 3 (Modules 5-6): Product Narrative Refine your idea based on feedback, clarify the why, who, and how behind it, and package it into a portfolio-ready artifact.

Output: polished product artifact and a short strategic write-up
