About this course

This course is a deep dive into what happens when data, storytelling, and AI meet, using your favorite sport (cricket!) as the medium.

You'll spend seven modules meeting six real AI agents built by Alagappan Vijayakumar, a cricket analyst, over eight years, seeing exactly how each one turns raw, messy information into something worth trusting, and then trying your hand at building your own version of each one.

By the end, you won't just understand how to read a scorecard properly.

You'll have explored what it actually takes to write instructions precise enough for a machine to follow, make a defensible judgment call under real uncertainty, hold a system accountable to its own track record, and reason through a problem that unfolds over an entire season instead of one match.

No prior experience with data, coding, or AI required. In fact, you will not be doing any coding in this course.

You just need to actually follow cricket, or be willing to pick it up as you go, and be curious enough to sit with a few genuinely open questions along the way. You do need access to an AI chatbot like ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini, though.

What you'll do

Part 1 (Module 1): Meet Alagappan

Learn who built these agents and why, take a real scorecard apart, and find the first gap a stat alone can't explain. Output: one honest, testable question drawn from a real match

Part 2 (Modules 2-4): Precision, Judgment, Accountability

Go inside three completely different skills: writing AI agent instructions so precise a machine can't misread them, making a defensible call when the data is genuinely uncertain, and holding predictions to an honest scoreboard instead of reputation. Output: your own working versions of instructions and knowledge for Pathivan, Maari, and Nakkeeran, with an understanding how to build them with AI

Part 3 (Modules 5-6): Chains and Time

See how a "full afternoon" exercise like writing match previews becomes a seven-stage pipeline which you can easily and reliably deploy, then how a system learns to think across 70 matches instead of one. Output: your own chained reasoning tool and season-long decision system

Part 4 (Module 7): The Full Picture Watch all five earlier agents converge into one that has to think live, while the match is actually happening, and see the whole eight-year build laid out at once, open problems included. Output: a complete picture of how the six agents fit together, alongside six real limitations in their real-world implementation

And of course, at least 5 basic but testable agents you have built to your taste and judgment using an AI tool that you have access to!

You don't need to know how to code. You don't need to have used AI tools before. You don't need to already understand cricket analytics.

This course is about thinking clearly under uncertainty, and learning how data and storytelling can combine creatively in the post-AI world.

Cricket, being your passion or interest, is just where you'll practice it.
